Apple Should Add IR To Their Next Best iPhone 4s Cases

I would love to see a company come up with a wireless network connected IR emitter similar to what Logitech uses for their remotes. This would sync up with an app on your best iPhone 4s cases, iPad, Android, Windows phone etc. and allow you to directly control any devices that the box is setup to control. It would be low profile and have an IR emitter as well as the IR emitter wires that can be connected directly to the IR input on a device. No dongle necessary and now I can get rid of my remote control and just use my iPad or best iPhone 4s cases. I guess it’s a small market for buyers now that I think about it.

I could see some use if they take advantage of the screen and functionality of the phone. you could have the EPG come up on the screen and switch channels that way, perhaps download icons/pictures/info at will, or have very powerful macros similar to high end harmony’s. One could search for programs, typically easier than trying to type in text in a box on the tv with your remote. For a simple channel up/channel down, volume buttons, power button setup, I agree, the iphone makes sense.

Apple really should add IR to their next iPhone 4s case/iPad/iPod Touch. The consumer electronics industry’s (unfortunately) still using infrared-based remotes (Apple included), and it would save the need for addons and dongles.
